A new hotel was inaugurated last week in Antwerp, Belgium, named Hampton by Hilton Antwerp Central Station. The sales and marketing manager, Sandrine Versavel, define it "Jewish friendly."    i

The new hotel is located next to the Flanders meeting and Convention Bureau opposite Antwerp's main train station, near the Diamond Center, the Jewish district, and shopping centers and restaurants

The marketing manager says that the new hotel has 145 rooms, 63 of which are designated as "Shabbat rooms". On their doors installed a lock that could be opened also with a regular key, which could be received before Shabbath at the reception desk. In these rooms Shabbat's clocks are installed for automatic turning off the air conditioning and lights. The sensors that turn on the light at the entrance to the room can be manually disconnected before Sabbath. These rooms are located on lower floors that are easily accessible by stairs, without need for an elevator on Shabbath

Marketing director, Mrs. Sandrine Versavel, says kosher breakfasts can be ordered on request. The hotel has a special arrangement with Hoffy's restaurant  to cater the guest that want kosher meals. Hoffy's is known in Antwerp for the quality of Jewish food in Antwerp for the quality of Jewish food. They serve only Glatt kosher, under supervision of Rabbi Eliyahu Sternbuch  of "Machsikey Hadass"  .    i

Rooms at the hotel are spacious and furnished to the needs of business people. They include a working desk for laptop and internet connections, and of course beds and closets. There are also meeting rooms and a business center at the hotel. The large rooms also have a kitchenette, and the hotel also offers a fitness centerr

We should praise the consideration of the needs of the religious guests, and I wish that many hotels would follow the new Hampton-Hilton in Antwerp.      i
